Tasting notes: this multi-award-winning wine is ruby in colour, with ripe strawberry and cherry, vanilla and sweet spice aromas and violet note throughout. A well-structured wine with great depth, smooth elegant tannins and excellent ageing potential.
Pairing: This wine pairs well with duck and beef.
Feature: Marselan is considered as a potential signature red grape for China, adding spiciness and colour to blends. Cabernet Sauvignon / Grenache cross created in 1961 to give a disease resistant variety with good colour and flavour, traditionally grown in Languedoc region in France.
About the Winery: Rongzi winery is in the Shanxi region in central northern China. Vines are grown at high altitude - 1000m on a loess rich plateau. The winemaking here is overseen by Jean-Claude Berrouet, previously winemaker at Château Pétrus.
