Panda Fine Wine is the first and only specialist importer and distributor of Chinese fine wines in the UK.

Panda Fine Wine was founded by husband and wife Michael Sun and Meiyu Li. Michael’s background in sales and marketing, complements Meiyu Li’s skills as wine buyer, in creating their innovative business, importing Chinese wines to the UK. Meiyu Li holds a position of high esteem in China as their first female advanced sommelier. Her training included studying and working in Bordeaux, as well as in the UK. Her combined professional international and Chinese wine knowledge provides an excellent position from which to access and select the best of the wines China has now begun to offer.

The first female Advanced Sommelier in China

After graduating from univerysity, Meiyu spent three years studying wine in France. She completed ‘La Mention Complémentaire en Sommellerie’ Sommelier Award at the Cafa Formation Sommelier Wine School in Bordeaux. She trained as a Sommelier at Bistrot du Sommelier with M. Philippe Faure-Brac, the World’s Best Sommelier in 1992. While in France, Meiyu also worked at Domaine Seppi Landmann in Alsace, Chateau Haut-Bailly in Pessac Leognan, and La Vinotheque Wine cellar in Bordeaux. Meiyu then returned to China to join the Park Hyatt Beijing as Hotel Sommelier, where she worked for three years.
Meiyu went to London to improve her English language skills in 2013, and passed the exam of Court of Master Sommelier and became the first female Advanced Sommelier in China in 2014.
In early 2015, Meiyu returned to Beijing and created her own company DrinkArts. DrinkArts are now Wine & Management Consultant for Park Hyatt Beijing, Park Hyatt Sanya, Park Hyatt Guangzhou, Hyatt Regency Changchun, Sheng Yong Xing roast duck restaurant group, Oyster Talks restaurant group, the Michelin-starred Xing Yong Ji restaurant group and a number of high end French, Chinese and Japanese restaurants in China. DrinkArts have received more than 10 "Three Glasses of Excellence" awards of China's Wine List of the Year Awards 2018 & 2019.
Meiyu was featured as one of the top 10 most influential women in China's wine trade by the Drink Business in 2019.
Michael manages the day-to-day business of Panda Fine Wine. He holds a BA degree in Business and Management from the UK and has more than ten years of experience in the marketing sector in the UK and China.
Michael is also involved with the luxury yacht business.

Wayne was born in London, holds a BA degree in International Relations, and has more than 20 years’ experience of the promotion of new business and trade globally, in the US, Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Wayne also has a decade of high-level experience in international relations and public affairs, including highlights such as being involved with the UN 61st General Assembly.
Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Karen gained her wide breadth of experience and skills at the very heart of the specialist UK Wine Trade.
She studied for a degree in European Business Studies and French and completed her WSET Diploma working in retail before moving to Richards Walford in 1995, who was one of the UK’s most respected, specialist importers. Karen was instrumental in the integration of Richards Walford Portfolio into Fields, Morris and Verdin, the agency arm of BB&R.
Karen developed her business expertise and communication skills, building a strong network and reputation in the UK wine trade and press.
